On the 7th
September 2008 we went for a breakfast run to
Suikerbossie to celebrate Uncle Bob’s 80th
birthday. After waking up early on the Sunday
morning we headed for our workshop in Parow were
a few of us met. Those from Somerset West went
straight to Suikerbossie and some straight from
home. We arrived there at about 9.30 after
Peanuts stopped a few times with some wiring
problems. (I wonder where his yellow page was,
the one everybody got in their Jubilee folder
for in case you broke down somewhere and the
rest of the convoy would know if you were in
trouble or not.) Forty of us arrived for
breakfast, which was great as the weather was
not so good. There was 7 Darts, 7 Flamingo’s and
1 x 57” Chev…… |

After having a
very good breakfast we went to David and Janet
Lyon’s home to look at his beautiful cars. Well
what can we say! We had champagne and orange
juice, meat pies and wonderful chocolate cake
and of course the cars are unbelievable. It was
absolutely wonderful to be able to see all these
cars. Over 30 cars and all two door models.
After handing Uncle Bob his present and David a
gift for his hospitality and some more car
“torque” we started going our different ways.
Some went home and some of us went for a drive
along Ou Kaap se Weg where we eventually landed
at Dixies in Simonstown. Another good outing. |
