HERMANUS WHALES AND WHEELS CLASSIC CAR SHOW - 2008

On the 26 September Peanuts and I left at 12 noon for Hermanus hoping to miss the Somerset West N2 traffic. Peanuts towing his Dart on a trailer and I driving my Flamingo. Having reached Somerset West we were caught in traffic. Thinking there was some serious accident ahead we patiently sat and waited. After finely reaching the famous Shell garage before Sir Lowreys Pass, we discovered that the traffic officers had set up a road block. Well, what can we say! A road block on a Friday afternoon at peak hour. Here we stopped for coffee where we met up with Piet and Willie Visagie. Over coffee Peanuts told us about the chat he had with Niekie van der Berg of RSG in connection with “ Waarheen ry ons” to tell him that we were on our way to the Hermanus show to put  our GSM cars on display.

The problem was he lost cell phone signal and could not complete his story. I drive a Flamingo with no radio therefore missing the program. Reaching Hermanus we made a turn by Zim and Martie and Deon and Annatjie who had arrived there earlier with their Flamingo and Dart. On Saturday morning we took our cars to the school for the show where we met up with JR, Mias, Wayne, Willie, Clarry, Ray, Sydney and Trevor with Clive’s Dart. We had a total of 14 GSM’s. The show was poorly supported by other clubs we assume because of the weather. After the show we had a good braai with good company. Pity it was so cold. Another good week end spend with great GSMer’s
