NEWSFLASH - 29 July 2009

On Saturday morning the 25th July 2009 the GSM Car Club went on an outing to Darling. Twenty six GSMers went to watch the show of “Evita” at “Evita se Perron” Colin and a very brave Janine with their two lovely children Jack and Steward went in their yellow Flamingo. Deon and Annatjie come all the way from Somerset West in their beautiful light blue Flamingo. Zim and Martie in their very fast Flamingo. I went in my shiny white Flamingo after spending the whole Friday afternoon polishing it and of course Peanuts in his only genuine GSM which was not polished.

John and Meegan (who was still recovering from her birthday the previous day) and their friends from Columbia came from Yserfontein. Gideon and Lynette in their normal road car because (and we have heard this before) the Dart is not complete. Piet and his daughter Karen with her husband Andre in their road car. Clive and Theresa (very naughty for not bringing their Dart) met us at Darling. We want to welcome Andre and Sylvia Knoop to our club. They joined us as well. We don’t blame them for not coming with the Flamingo seen that there is only a body at the moment. Ronnie and Marion also in the road car because Ronnie’s Dart is still standing in his garage in a relaxed mode, going nowhere slowly. Then Dawie and Ohna also arrived in their normal car as his Dart which is called “Poeier-WP” is in a similar state as Ronnie’s.

Evita was great. The bobotie and veggies and homemade bread was delicious and of course ending with coffee and a koeksister. The show was very good with lots of laughs. Once again a very successful outing with some great GSM people. Those of you that could not make it. Shame!

PS: e-mails received after the show:
Hi Rose,
Thank you for organising a very pleasant day at Darling on 25th July. We really enjoyed ourselves.
We have overseas visitors arriving next month and I am sure that a visit to Evita se Perron will be quite an experience for them.
Regards,
Theresa Spolander
