NEWSFLASH - 20 NOVEMBER 2009

Well, I don’t know where to begin. We are nearly at the end of the year and what a year this has been. We started the year going to George which was great. Twenty cars went to George. Then on the 13th March some of us went to Stanford to see Uncle Bobs house he stayed in as a little boy where we met a very nice lady Ena who had bought Uncle Bob’s house. On the 22nd March 2009 we had the GSM Auction party which was a lot of fun. On the 29th March 2009 some went to the Crankhandle Club Auto Jumble Sale at Timour Hall. On the 2 May, Peanuts and I went to the Knysna Car Show.
Colin and Janine had another little boy. Madge was not well but is looking much better now. Mariet had a back op and is recovering nicely. JR also had a back op and is looking very well after picking up a few pounds. So glad to see Cynthia looking so good after her heart op. Lets not forget about Johan Walters. Wow!! He went from 40kg back to 60kg. Is it not great!!

We had a photo shoot with Top Car Magazine and were very luck to get our lovely GSM in their magazine.

On the 25th July 2009 twenty six GSM members went to Evita se Perron. A good show with good food. The 8th August 2009 we went to Villiersdorp with three Darts and four Flamingo’s. The 6th September we went to Suikerbossie to celebrate Uncle Bob’s 81st birthday. On the 13th November 2009 we had our Christmas Party at Pot Belly. Thank you Annatjie & Deon. Pat and David came all the way from Durban. Stef and Judy from Uitenhage. Ron & Lyn from East London. The handsome Hendrik and wife Martie from Tarkastad. Thanks for coming to our party.

Then on the 15th November 2009 we had the biggest car show Cape Town has ever seen. THE CAPE CLASSIC CAR SHOW. With over 1000 cars and over 8000 spectators this was a great show. I think the GSM members are the best. Ronnie Roberts, Andre Oosthuizen, Chris Walters and Willie Visagie were unbelievable. They worked flat out for two days. It is because of people like this that made this show a success. Let’s not push the ladies one side. Thank you Gloria, Marion and Martie for helping to sell the GSM goodies and with registration. What about our chairman or should I say “Events Coordinator” I know he worked very hard for this show. I know because I heard the phone calls, the begging and the swearing and I saw the loss of profits at work. Thanks Hein for handling the prize giving. Here are the results.

GSM Darts: Denis Joubert – 1st place – Cape Town
Clarry Taylor – 2nd place – Somerset West
Peanuts Fouche – 3rd place – Cape Town

GSM Flamingo: Hein van der Watt – 1st place – Cape Town
Annatjie Smit – 2nd place – Somerset West
Ron Langefield – 3rd place – East London

Levy Dart: Johan Rousseau – 1st place – Cape Town
Neville Lomnitz – 2nd place – Lainsburg
Johan Walters – 3rd place – Cape Town

Before we go on holiday I need the names of every one going to the George Motor Show on the 13 & 14th February 2010. I would also need to know if anyone needs accommodation.

From Peanuts and myself we want to wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous new year.

Kind regards
Rose
