NEWSFLASH – THE CAPE SOUTH EASTER – 6,7TH FEBRUARY 2010 On the 6,7th February 2010 The Cape South Easter race day was held at the Killarney Race Track. It was known before as the David Piper Historic Race Meeting. A spot had been allocated for each car club. We parked 6 Darts and 5 Flamingos in our area. The GSM club members shared the boma with the Multi Car Club. It was wonderful to see 3 of Uncle Bob’s daughters join us for the day. Willie “Shorty” Visagie braaied the meat and believe me he does a fine job. At lunch time we were allowed to take the GSM cars around the circuit. This was lots of fun. I drove with Martie in her V6 Flamingo. When we got back I told Peanuts I think I would like a V6 motor in my Flamingo but needless to say, I’m sure you can imagine his reply, being an “everything must be original” kind of man. As far as the racing goes I believe it would be nice if they could race in Cape Town first and then go to Johannesburg so that we could, for a change, see the cream of the crop as many cars seem to break down before we have a chance to see them race. Once again, good cars, good company, good food and wine and the racing, well……. |
