HISTORY:
This car was first owned by Tony Kotzé who
also was a GSM Dealer. He was the first person to enter a Dart
in the first South African 9 hour Endurance Race, at Grand
Central Johannesburg in 1958. The late Fritz le Roux was his
co-driver. Although they finished the race, it was delayed by
replacing a blown head gasket in the pits and was not
classified. Between 1959 and 1969 there is no record of its
history. In 1969 Mr Rob Gay, bought the car from Barrett
Manufacturing Company in Johannesburg. Rob raced the car
competitively at Killarney and at the end of 1975 he sold it to
the late Jan Kriel. After a comprehensive rebuild, Jan raced it
at Killarney for about five years, before selling it to Dr Vic
Levin from Johannesburg in 1982. Since then, around 2003 Vic
retired to Somerset West and the car is back in the Cape. Vic
has also had some work done on the car, he uses it occasionally,
weather permitting and on GSM-runs. According to Clarry Taylor
the car is quite fast!.
