HISTORY:
Saw the car at Solheim Motors over a year ago, and kept checking to see if they would accept a reasonable offer. Finally concluded a deal in January 2009. The car was previously owned by Mr. DWH Lowry, and before that by John Banks. Strangely the car shows it was first registered in 1962, which is obviously wrong, as it was only built in 1963 !
The engine is a FORD 1600 cross-flow with a 4 speed bullet gearbox. To accommodate the cross-flow motor the pedals were hinged from the floor, and not suspended from the top of the floor well. The original bonnet catches have been removed, and replaced with clips at the windscreen end of the bonnet. This has stopped the bonnet from bowing in the centre. The exhaust system has also been re-routed from the rear to come out just short of the left rear wheel. This has helped as the car used to bottom out on the slightest of bumps. When purchased, the car had Smiths chrome wheels, but these have been replaced with chrome Rostyle rims fitted with 205 x 60 x 13 tyres all round.
