HISTORY:

Hello All!

I am a seriously happy chappy!

I took ownership of Gordon Murray's GSM Flamingo. Sorry Gordon that you had to sell it but I am ecstatic! Seriously folks I havent had as much of a kick out of life as this particular moment.

Thrashing along the "B" roads in the UK is an experience! Especially when the Porsche and other hot hatch boys see me burbling along!
On the minus side, I forgot that as much as I craved the Flamaingo as a 70Kg teenager, its quite a funny sight to watch as I slip the Flamingo over myself now that I weigh 120Kg!!!!!!

The latest news on 64039 is that the 1600 crossflow motor is going to be replaced with a 1500cc motor.. balanced, blueprinted, mild to wild cam and all the trimmings that would make a Christams tree envious! Photos to follow soon.

At the moment, the Flamingo is my daily runner, and being a brilliant yellow, she has been named as the Flying Banana in the town I stay in... how embarrassing my wife says, but I am as chuffed as can be!

Those who disparage her will soon regret their words at the local hillclibs and sprints when she is resplendent in her new guise... registered as a historic racer, with 150BHP under the bonnet (oh its such a beautiful trick head she's getting...BW if you know the brand)

I am sourcing new mini-lite wheels...

But I do crave any comment from all other Flamingo owners on suspension, steering mechanism, and any other matters technical that I can use on my beloved car.

I am also in a bit of a quandary regarding the engines...was the Rover V8 available at the time? 1964? Is the 2,0 Koln motor typical for this car's age? How about the plan for the Fairlane V8 motor...can I fit a V8 into the 1964 model and still claim the correctness for historic racing? I have both V8s and 2,0 litre available, but to date, it seems that the 1500 GT motor seems the most correct motor. Any and all advice is welcome....

Looking forward to all comments
Cheers
A very happy GSM'er
