HISTORY:
Gerald Barnard bought the car with a 1500GT motor in the late 70's. He fitted a 3.0 motor and auto box. The bonnet was monstrously modified. The headlights were also moved back 100mm. In 1980 Gerald swopped the Flamingo for a 1100cc Yamaha to an unknown person. There is no history between 1980 and 1988. From about 1988 the car was owned by Mr Lynton Thomas who only had the car for 18 months. In 1990 Ian Robertson bought the car for R3,500.00 from Lynton. A complete new chassis took 8 months. The restoration of the car took 2,5 years. It had a 2.0 litre Cortina engine with a five speed box. Mrs Robertson used the car daily for 3 years. Ian found the car to wheel spin too much so he filled the area around the petrol tank with concrete. Ian sold the car to Roy Cartmel for R12,000.00 in 2202/2003. At this stage all the paint had been removed. Roy started to finish restoring the car but could not finish due to back problems. Arno van der Westhuizen bought the car in early 2007. A full revamp is currently under way so Arno can attend the GSM Jubilee in September 2007. Car is red with black trim and has 4 stud rims.
